She had yet to find a vacant and decent room though. Lucas had been pretty quiet the whole time. She knew this whole search for the perfect room was getting on his nerves, but she simply couldn't take an old one, with rusty doors and beds. After looking into 4 more rooms, even Kimara was getting tired of this. So she wasn't surprised to hear Lucas' voice the first time that day. "You know, I don't mind the room I'm staying, so you can go ahead and I'll catch you later..."She had met this little fellow a couple of weeks earlier. Sometimes, he could be the most adorable thing on whatever world she was in, but other times, she just wanted to strangle him. And this was one of those days. Just the fact that she had been walking for a good 40 minutes looking for a room was getting quite annoying, she didn't need his comments. "No! You're coming with me and that's it!" The fact was that Kim just didn't want to get separated from the little Lopmon, but she would never admit it. At least, not in the next coupld of weeks anyway. Lucas didn't like anything annoying and right now, Kim was starting to sound like a spoiled, annoying kid. And he wasn't liking it. Without even waiting for his answer, Kimara started walking again, opening a couple more doors on her way. Sighing, Kim stopped. "Maybe we should take a break." As she opened a door on her left on a final attempt, instead of finding a room, she found some sort of saloon. A well decorated saloon. And it had food, a couple of couches and quite some windows. That was all it took to brighten Kim's face. When Kim was about to give her first step inside, Lucas stopped her. "What now?!" Lucas looked down to her feet. The carpet was slightly lifted and he knew she would trip on it and fall. And that meant she would be grumpy the rest of the day, and he certainly didn't want that. "Look out with the carpet." And this was why she loved this little fellow so much. Carefully entering the room, she grabbed a rather good looking type of fruit and sat on one of the couches. The Lopmon also grabbed some food. Though Kim couldn't tell what kind of food it was, she would try it later, since she knew how much Lucas disliked bad food. Not long after, the Digimon joined her on the couch and the two of them just stood there, in silence, looking outside and watching as the clouds moved. And for no reason, Kim felt like singing. And so she did. Lucas loved hearing her sing. Sure, he had never heard anyone sing, but the melody she emitted was quite pleasant. Calming herself, all she had to do now was find a room. But that could wait wait a little longer. words: too tired to count~ music: inside of you, the maine tags: Tess, open~ notes: Just a little testing ^^; =P credits: rinne of OTE, neutral milk hotel. |

[cs=3][atrb=cellspacing,0,btable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,btable] | [bg=black][atrb=width,70] | “Tess, clearly you were mistaken. There’s no one up here. Let’s go.”
Grimm’s sardonic voice easily reached her through the clear, bitingly cold air, even from where the Stingmon stood on the other side of the roof. The girl glanced over at him, mildly irritated at her digimon for breaking the pristine silence that had previously filled the air. But she didn’t respond, because she knew he was right. “I could have sworn there was someone up here…”
Not pressing the issue, she slowly made her way over to the side of the roof she had come from, kicking a pile of snow on the way, enjoying the small explosion of white powder that poofed into the air. At least there was still time to go back out before dark. She had been on the frozen pond in front of the hotel, trying to teach herself to ice skate, when she saw the dark silhouette on the roof of the hotel, details masked by the sun behind it. Obviously overwhelmed with curiosity, she had rushed into the building and, making use of the various ledges and decorative ornamentations on its exterior, she had managed to clamber up onto the roof. But now there was no one here. A disgruntled sigh escaped her lips as she reached the edge of the roof and swung her legs over the side. Tess wasn’t truly upset, though. It was nearly impossible to be, at this hotel. She’d been here for the last few days, and she was still trying to understand exactly what was going on. It was absolutely fascinating. However, she had hoped that the silhouette on the roof might prove a breakthrough in her understanding, and instead it had just added one more item to the list of things she needed to figure out. “Grimm, could you get over here and give me a hand?”
The insectoid figure stood up from where he had been sitting in a spot of sunlight and slowly walked over to where Tess was sitting. “Fine, but perhaps next time you should consider your way down before you climb up,” he drawled, more bemused than annoyed this time, with a playful gleam in his jewel-red eyes. His partner retorted, covering up a laugh. “I could get down myself. I just know you wouldn’t want there to be any risk of me falling and hurting myself, right?”
Grimm sighed noncommittally, but hovered behind the girl, making sure she was safe, as she clambered down the face of the building, lightly stepping from ledge to ledge, avoiding slick ice spots, and using the smallest cracks as handholds as if this was something a person did every day. “Tess, you do know how mental you are, right?” It was only after she landed on the ledge above the window she had used to get outside that he spoke again. Her response was that bell-like, genuine laugh that was so unique to her. “Of course I do, and-”
But she cut off her sentence in the middle, gesturing to Stingmon to hush. There was a noise emanating from the window below her, music, it sounded like. The room, full of food and comfortable places to sit, had been empty when she left it to get to the roof. This was an interesting development. “Come on, let’s go,” she murmured, excitement evident in her quiet voice. “Wait, Tess, are you sure this is a good idea?”
But it was too late. Tess had already grabbed the ledge and propelled herself over, her hands gripping the ledge as she allowed the rest of her body to swing towards the wall. In one, smooth motion, her foot collided with the wooden frame in the center of the window she had left closed, but unlocked, and it swung inwards, allowing both Tess and a cold breeze to enter the room. In a graceful arc, Tess fell into the room, expecting to land on the couch she had dragged over towards the window for just this purpose. It was only as she took in her surroundings that she saw that was where the singing had been coming from, and there was a girl and her digimon exactly in her way. It was too late to change her course, however, and with a sharp intake of breath, she prepared herself for impact.
Less than a second later, she found herself in a tangle of limbs, both digimon and human, sprawled on the thickly padded sofa, and with a sharp pain in her skull from the impact. “Er, sorry about that,” she intoned as she tried to extract herself from the mess. “I didn’t expect you to be sitting there.” Grimm had flown into the room and was now standing in the corner. Tess could hear him laughing, and she couldn’t stop a warm, red blush from climbing to her cheeks. He was never going to let her forget this. “I’m Tess, and this is Grimm,” she started automatically, introducing herself and her digimon.

These were the moments where neither of them, human or Digimon, needed to say a thing, for these were the times where they felt more in harmony with each other. While singing, Kim starting petting Lucas' ears; those were his weak spot. She also had weaknesses, expect that hers were all over her and they called it tickles. Luckily for her, the Lopmon had yet to find that fact. Kimara stopped for a second. At the same time, Lucas, who was almost asleep, lifted one of his long ears and listened. "Did you heard something?" She was aware of how good his hearing was, but she also knew how sleepy he could get whenever she petted his ears. Half asleep, the Lopmon answered. "Huh?! I didn't hear a thing..." Kim shrugged the issue off and continued with her singing. Suddenly, Lucas got up. On her lap, but still, he was standing in his back legs. Something was wrong. "What is it - " But she never got the chance to finish the sentence. The same time she felt a cold breeze entering the room, something or someone seemed to land over Kim and her Digimon. Kim was struggling to get that certain someone or something off of her and poor Lucas did the same, since he was stuck between them When they finally worked it out of the mess, Kim started laughing. But really laughing. Why? Well, first of all, she hadn't seen a human face in what seemed like a century, and second, when she did see some sort of familiar face, it was in that situation. "Don't worry about it!" she said, as the girl excused herself. Finally taking a look at the new comer, she saw that it was a girl about her age and she also had a Digimon with her. The fact that the Digimon resembled an isect gave Kim goosebumps. But his ownerl had this gorgeous eye color. Lucas placed himself in front of Kimara; although he was quite small for a Digimon, this guy was way to protective and temperamental. Giving Tess a smile, Kim decided it was better to introduce herself as well. "Nice to meet you, I'm Kim and this little fellow right here is Lucas." Lucas stared at them;for some reason, he didn't seem to like them. Especially the insect-like Digimon. And he also disliked the fact that Kim had introduced him as 'little fellow'. Yes, he had some height issues. The blue haired teen wanted to ask this girl so many things but she didn't knew where to start and besides, she didn't want to look stupid. But then she remembered what the girl had said about 'not expecting them to be here'. That meant she was here before them, which should also mean Tess knew this place. "Oh you were here? Sorry, it's just that I couldn't find a room for both of us so when I found this place I thought we could rest for a while." Yup, that was pretty much true. Now, she didn't knew what kind of person Tess was, but she seemed confident and sympathetic. "Is it ok for us to hang around for a little while?" Kimara didn't want to impose or anything, but she had just got there and didn't want to get straight back to the search for a room. But Lucas seemed unsteady, so Kim grabbed him and told him to calm down. The Lopmon did so, but still had his guard up. words: 589 music: inside of you, the maine tags: Tess, open~ notes: Just a little testing ^^; =P credits: rinne of OTE, neutral milk hotel. |

[cs=3][atrb=cellspacing,0,btable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,btable] | [bg=black][atrb=width,70] | To her surprise and relief, the girl on whom she had made her unfortunate landing did not seem upset. In fact, if anything, she seemed rather happy. That was good. This might prove more interesting that Tess had initially thought. Brushing herself off, Tess turned around and latched the window behind her as the other girl talked, stopping any more cold air from getting into the room. “Oh, you couldn’t find a room? Well, hang around all you want, it’s not my hotel.” Tessa’s voice was curious. Who came to a hotel without knowing where they were going to stay? Unfortunately, it seemed this girl knew even less about the place they had ended up than Tess did. That made her less useful, but not less interesting. “I’ve only been here a few days myself,” she offered in a sort of explanation, “and something doesn’t seem quite right, you know? I actually just came down from the roof. I moved the couch in front of the window to make the landing easier on the way back, but, well, you see how that ended up. Anyway, I was out front, and I could have sworn I saw someone standing up top, but when I got there, it was empty.”
Shrugging, she again turned, this time walking over to where Grimm was standing. “Listen, if you really don’t have a room, there’s one next to mine you can use. It’s been empty since we got here, and it’s pretty nice. It would be good to have some company. This place is pretty quiet.” Teresa blinked, noticing her long eyelashes brush against her cheeks only because they were still half-frozen. She resisted the urge to rub her face in attempt to warm it only because her fingers too, were still numb with cold. Tess could see Grimm looking at her, and although his rigid face would seem unchanged to almost anyone else, the girl could see the concern in his eyes. So she wasn’t terribly surprised his smooth, precise tones reached her ears. “Tess. You’re cold.” His eyes flickered around the room, lighting on a small fireplace on the far wall. “Perhaps you should start a fire and rest here for a while. I don’t think ice-skating is a good idea right now.”
It appeared that Grimm wasn’t going to give her any choice in the matter. Normally, the creature followed her lead, with no small amount of moaning, of course. But when Stingmon got an idea into his head, it was nearly impossible to get it out. “I suppose ice-skating will have to wait for some other day, then,” she acquiesced. Tess wasn’t terribly upset, though. The girl seemed interesting enough, with her blue hair and penchant for singing in odd rooms and with her strangely silent digimon. In fact, the little Lopmon almost seemed hostile, curled in his partner’s arms. Her assumption was that it was Stingmon that was making him nervous. The tall, dark digimon could be intimidating, until after getting to know him. Raising her eyebrow at the little Lopmon and half-smiling, Tess walked over to the fireplace and busied herself trying to figure out how to get it to work. Stingmon began occupying himself with eating some sort of honey covered pastry that he discovered on a tray by the door, satisfied that Tess was in no danger and wasn't going to do anything stupid to put herself in any.

Kimara hated cold weather. Apart from that, Kim never thought she could be this happy just by seeing a person. It could have been any person, true, but Tess seemed rather nice, which made it even better. When Tess mentioned that this wasn't her hotel, Kim felt somewhat stupid.Who on Earth or whatever world she was in couldn't find a room with so many rooms around them?! Besides, now that she thought about it, whenever you go to a hotel, you are given a room. The thing was that she had simply landed there. Kimara made a mental note to find a reception of some sort and ask about the room issue. As soon as Tess mentioned someone being on the roof, she got Kim's total and full attention. That meant there were more people out there! Or inside... Anyway, Tess was right. Something about this place didn't seemed right. Kim had just arrived but how could it be that all the rooms she had tried seemed almost old and rusty, while there was such a living room like this? Meanwhile, Lucas had calmed down and was now fully relaxed on Kim's arms. "Well, I just arrived myself, but you're right. Something about this place doesn't seem right." she commented. Kim watched the girl moving toward Grimm and found herself wondering what kind of Digimon that was. Lucas had given her a brief explanation of how things worked with Digimons and how he was in a Rookie level, but this tal insect-human like Digimon didn't seemed a Rookie. Even though Kim found Tess lovely in a certain way, she wasn't able to look at Grimm without giving her goosebumps. He could be the nicest Digimon ever, but still, he resembled an insect. And Kimara didn't like insects. A smile appeared on Kim's face. This girl was actually pretty nice, nicer than Kim thought she was. But you see, among Kim's flaws, two of them were stopping her to say yes: her pride and her stubbornness. Putting Lucas on the ground, she thanked the girl. "Thank you very much, but I think I'll try to work this whole rooms thing out. If after that I still don't have a rather nice room, I'll take your offer." Lucas sighed. This time he couldn't keep his mouth shut. "You know, sometimes you should think before you speak..." As much as she liked Lucas, he could annoy the hell out of her sometimes, and he was almost there. Seeing how Tess and Grimm interacted warmed up Kim. It was like they understood each other without having to say much. It was almost like they knew each other for quite some time. The blue haired girl couldn't say that the same thing applied to her and Lucas, after all, she knew him for a couple of weeks. Yeah, she did like him, but part of it was because he was a cute little thing. With time, she got to know the Lopmon a bit more, but it seemed that he knew everything about her. Kimara moved toward the window, but stood a few feet away. Just by standing there she could see how high they were and she was terrified of heights. Still, she could spot what seemed like a frozen pool. That was a must-do for later, 'cause even thought she didn't enjoy cold, she loved skating. Lucas was starting to like the golden eyed girl but he was still unable to smile. He was aware that he wasn't being the nicest Digimon, but he didn't feel the need to. But when he noticed how Tess was struggling to lit up the fire, he went and helped her. He knew Kim disliked cold and Lucas himself preferred a warm environment. Being nice didn't mean he had to smile to everyone. Meanwhile, Kimara moved to the table and looked for the whatever it was that Lucas had grabbed before. When she found it, she had to admit that it didn't look so good, but when she tasted it, it was actually pretty good. It was like a mix between cinnamon and coffee. She preferred sweeter things, but this wasn't bad at all. "Hey Lucas, what is this? It's sooo good! You should try it too!" she said, talking to both Tess and her Digimon, Grimm. Well, she was aware that not everyone liked the same things she did (she did dye her hair blue after all), but when it came to food, she had quite an accurate tongue. No need to say that she never got a reply from Lucas, but sometimes she believed it was better that way. words: 784 music: inside of you, the maine tags: Tess, open~ notes: I don't know myself but it would be fun to get these two to become somewhat friends. [cs=3][atrb=cellspacing,0,btable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,btable] | [bg=black][atrb=width,70] | Fumbling with a matchbox she had found sitting on the fireplace mantle, Teresa pulled out a match and attempted to strike it on the box, but found that her frozen fingers were making things a bit difficult. Again, she tried, but this time the match escaped her fingers and tumbled to the floor. Tilting her head to the side and muttering something not entirely complimentary, she leaned down to pick it up, and half-turned to ask Grimm for a spot of help, but to her surprise, the little Lopmon was standing directly behind her already, apparently having noticed her struggle. Not objecting to his assistance, she handed him the matches and watched as he quickly managed to get the fire lit. “Thanks. It’s Lucas, right? I appreciate the help.”
Quickly, Tess stood up and removed the chilled jacket made of dark brown leather that she had been wearing, revealing the simple cream colored sweater underneath. Slinging the jacket over the back of the chair, she crouched in front of the fire and released a content sigh as she imagined the warm glow of the fire diffusing throughout her body, and felt her hands begin to thaw out. Grimm glanced over, having finished his snack, and then, content that she was taking care of herself, walked over to a chair near the window and curled up in the spot of sunlight that was hitting it. Unlike Tess, he was not a terribly social creature, and was generally perfectly happy to allow his partner to do most of the talking while he, like now, tried to take a nap. Being, technically, a very large insect, Grimm was not fond of the cold, and in the winter he could often be found trying to get as much heat as possible from the sun.
Tess, meanwhile, was feeling much warmer, and therefore full of energy, thanks to the fire the small digimon had helped her to start. She chuckled as she saw Grimm settling in for his nap, but herself turned to go and see what Kimara had found. Walking over to the table with a relaxed gait, she glanced at the various delicacies placed on it with mild interest. Reaching forward with one hand, now almost pink from the warmth of the fire, she picked up one of the things that Kimara had decided were so delicious and took a bite. Instantly, the spicy-bitter flavor flooded her mouth, and Tess recognized it as something her mum had made just a few months ago. Chewing, but not too quickly, she savoured the bite she had taken. She had loved these when her mum made them, and she loved them now, the complex blend of flavours, not quite sweet, but definitely a dessert. “Mmmm, yes,” she agreed after she had swallowed, “I’ve had this before, and it’s one of my favorites.”
Glancing over at Grimm, wondering if he wanted to try some, she saw that he was perfectly content in the red velvet armchair and let him alone. Making eye contact with the girl across from her, she shrugged, hoping to be understood. “Guess he doesn’t want any. Sometimes he can act like a grumpy old man, but he has to put up with me, so I guess I can’t blame him.”
She laughed lightly, and took another bite, enjoying the reminder of home, and her mother. In fact, this vacation was supposed to be a mother-daughter thing, but her mum had gotten called to France at the last minute on business, so Tess had come alone. It happened often enough, so Tess was used to it, but she wondered when the next time she really got to spend some time with her mother would be. Shaking out her long brown hair, she brought her focus back to her current situation, not wanting to be distracted from the multitude of questions already floating through her mind. “The real question is, who brought this up here? I haven’t seen anyone wandering the hallways at all, but all this food is fresh, so someone must be delivering it. In fact, I’ve been exploring quite a bit, and I haven’t seen any sign of a kitchen, so I don’t even know how it got made.”
It was a good question, and now that she was thinking about it, it made the whole hotel seem even more suspect than before. She was tempted to suggest a stake-out, wanting to wait in the room until someone, or something, showed up, but got the feeling that the act of waiting in the room might prevent more food from showing up at all. If only she had some sort of map of the hotel, things might be easier to figure out, but that wasn’t going to happen. “What do you two think?”
She asked them, and not Grimm, because she already knew what her digimon would think. He would want to go back up to the room, relax, and enjoy their time in the hotel. Sometimes she wondered how he repressed his curiosity, because she knew that, once interested, he was just as intrigued by everything as she was. However, Tess realized that it was probably for the better, because without Grimm to keep track of her, she would get into a lot more trouble than she already did.

Something about her seemed somewhat familiar. And it wasn't the fact that she was the first human Kim saw in a few days. No, she really seemed familiar. Kimara had the feeling she had seen those golden eyes before, but damn, she was awful with names and faces. And it was probably a coincidence. No, it was no coincidence. Although Kim was bad with names and faces, she could clearly remember a girl with golden eyes in her middle school. Could it be her? Well, of course she probably didn't remember Kim even if she asked, since she hadn't dyed her hair yet by then. Another bite of whatever marvelous thing she was eating was enough to get her back to reality. Kim smiled as she watched Lucas interact with Tess. Kimara had been the first person Lucas had ever seen and it was still somewhat difficult to hang around each other without having, at least, one verbal fight every day. So it was a good thing he was acting the way he was toward the brunette. Nodding, Lucas almost half-smiled. Tess was pretty nice actually, it just wasn't easy for him to easily trust humans. With an exception being Kimara of course. "You're welcome.." he managed to mumble. Kim knew he was a good Digimon, it was just that arrogant side of him that annoyed her every once in a while. And he was over protective, but the blue haired found it kind of cute actually. After helping Tess with the fire, Lucas headed to the table and grabbed one of the many sandwiches available. It wasn't as good as the cupcake Kim had tasted, but it was still food. And not that bad, he would never eat bad food. Kim sat down on a chair nearby and called for Lucas, whom gladly cuddled on Kim's lap. Kimara saw Lucas as the pet she had never had, so she treasured him pretty much. Besides, she knew how he liked to relax next to her, either on her lap, in her arms or simply next to her. That way he was certain that she was there next to him and if something happened, he was right there. The blue haired teen smiled. She wished she had met Tess in 'their' world. She still had that feeling that she knew her, but still, she was starting to really like this girl. About the cupcake, or whatever it was really, Kim loved it, but decided that 3 was enough. She still had to take care of her silhouette. Well yes, she cared about that. Kim could never forgive herself if she gained more than 4 pounds. If she wanted to make it either in the music or fashion industry, keeping a good body was a must. "They really are something." Lucas wasn't asleep but if felt like it. Not that Kim was bothered about it, she just thought he could be a little more outgoing. Well, at least he was a good company when it was just the two of them. As Tess glanced at Grimm, Kim did the same. Another chill. That was truly a big bug. Still, he seemed quite calm, pretty much like Lucas actually. Kimara laughed lighlty with what Tess said about her Digimon. Looking at Lucas, Kim gave her her reply. "I'm not one to complain. I mean, he can be irritating, but he also puts up with me, which is quite a feat, so yeah." True, but Tess mentioned that Grimm was the 'grumpy man', and in their case, it was Kim who could be quite grumpy and annoying actually. All it was needed was a bad sleep. Effy, one of Kimara Elizabeth many nicknames, listened carefully to what Tess was saying. She did had a point. Kim hadn't seen anyone else around, either Digimon or human, but still, there they were, in a room full of fresh food. All the rooms she had poked into were clean and tidy. The fact that Tess haven't found a kitchen was also awkward. "Yeah, you're right... And all the rooms seem so clean. I assume that the same thing happens to your room, since I've peeked into every room I passed through and all seem incredibly clean." Truth to be said, if Tess hadn't mention it, she wouldn't look much into it, partially because she was new around so she hadn't had much time to roam around. But with everything Tess said did make sense. Which only made thing weirder. Why were they there anyway? There had to be some sort of reason, an explanation. Lucas had a great hearing sense and he hadn't given much sign of movement while they were walking among the hotel. In answer to Tess' question, Lucas lifted his head. Although he had been almost asleep, there was no way he would fall asleep while he and Kim were in a place with two strangers. "Well, it truly is odd. I mean, I haven't been here for a long time, but I know Lucas has a great hearing and he hasn't captured a single sound ever since we came. And what are we doing here anyway?" Kim sighed. This was quite confusing, but now she just wanted to go out there and search for something or someone. She didn't believed in magic, she believed in what her eyes could see and in what science could explain. And right now, sitting wouldn't do them any good. Lucas was simply unmotivated and right now, all he cared about was making sure Kim wasn't getting up, so he could rest a while more on her lap. So no, Kim wasn't expecting much of an answer from her Digimon. "I think we should explore this thing a bit more. I mean, all I did was search for a room, which isn't much of a help, but now that we're 4, we can search a bigger area. What if Grimm and Lucas flew around the hotel for a bit while we search the inside, and then we would meet here in a couple of minuted. That way we could search inside and out, not to mention that we would get to check if someone had replaced the food we ate." It was just an idea and it got her an instant response from Lucas, whom glared at her. Well,it was a bit imprudent. There was always the chance of running into a Digimon in the hotel, but Kim kind of enjoyed a hand-to-hand fight. Not the same, but yet it was the only thing she could think about. "No, it's too dangerous." There, she knew he would say that. "Didn't ask you. Any ideas Tess?" Kim's own idea wasn't very reassuring but it was the only one she could think of. Maybe Tess had something in mind. words: 1144 music: inside of you, the maine tags: Tess, open~ notes: Sure thing ^^ Sorry about the late reply, busy with Christmas stuff and studying for the exams -.- Oh btw, I was reading you plot page and saw that Tess went to British schools. [cs=3][atrb=cellspacing,0,btable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,btable] | [bg=black][atrb=width,70] | Tess was, and always had been, the sort of person to see everything. While not on the level of someone like, say, Sherlock Holmes, she was certainly incredibly observant. Most likely, it came from the fact that she never wanted to miss out on anything. She had always felt that, as long as she was living, she should really be living, not just floating through life. So, little details, everything from colors to subtle nonverbal nuances of behavior were things she noticed out of habit as much as interest. As often as not though, the little details would add up to something interesting in and of itself, interesting. Today was one of those days.
She hadn’t noticed it at first, but it was becoming more and more apparent that there was something odd, something different about the interaction between Kim and Lucas, in their words and body language. The two were friendly enough, it seemed, but it was a new kind of friendship, bright and shiny and untested, not like the old, strong bond that she had with Grimm. It was the kind of relationship a small child might have with their partner, someone still unused to the novelty of a constant companion who could, in all likelihood, do things most humans were wholly incapable of. No, it was nothing like the bond she had with Grimm, the creature she had known since she had known herself, with whom she would instantly trust her life. Often times, she felt like she didn’t need words with Grimm, that they simply understood each other, and she felt like that wasn’t the case with the other pair. The question was, why? Even with most of her formidable mind working on the question, the girl simply could not come up with a solution. However, she filed the question away as Kim addressed her again. Maybe the two just weren’t as close as she was with Grimm. Although that was an unsatisfactory answer at best, it would have to suffice for the time being.
Tessa’s curiosity was somewhat eased by the other girl’s suggestion. Frankly, she loved it. A girl of action, that’s what Tess was. Sitting back and theorizing could only be useful for so long, that was her stand. At some point in time, one had to introduce new facts into the equation, new information into the system, to get any new results. “Let’s do it,” she answered quickly, enthusiasm coloring her voice. Glancing over at Grimm to gauge his reaction to the idea, she was unsurprised to see that he looked reluctant, but willing. They had, after all, seen a lot of the hotel already, and nothing particularly dangerous had happened, so he trusted that she could take care of herself. And Tess knew that Grimm would be fine. He was a surprisingly dangerous adversary, considering his usual nonchalance. They could both take care of themselves. “No,” she responded, disliking the objections to Kim’s plan, “I like it. We’ll be fine, and if anything happens, Lucas will hear it, right?” Lopmon had notoriously good hearing, from what Tess had heard. “You two just circle the outside, maybe check the roof again, and we can nose around in here for a bit.”
Over in the corner where he had been settling in for a nap, Grimm stood up and stretched, resigned to going back out into the cold. In spite of himself, he was just as eager to find out what was happening in the hotel as Tess. Well, perhaps not just as eager, but definitely curious. With a soft sound, somewhat reminiscent of cloth brushing cloth, he extended his wings, stretching them, too, for the flight. Tess was watching him, as she always did when he used his wings, enraptured. They were amazing, and in Tess’s mind, that was all there was to it. Long, slender creations, more similar to a dragonfly’s wings than those of a housefly or any other such inelegant creature, and clear, reflecting the colors of room around them like some sort of crystal prism, they were only made more beautiful, in Tessa’s opinion, by how well they functioned. She smiled at her partner, and asked, only half in jest, “So, are you sure you’re up for this?”
A slight snort from the digimon was the only response. In fact, the only one who seemed at all reluctant was Lucas, the little Lopmon. Trying to ease his concern, the tall Stingmon spoke to him. “Eh, don’t worry about anything. If something comes up, I’ll protect you.” His voice was, as usual, dry and a bit sarcastic, and Tess knew that to other’s ears he would sound more like he was trying to provoke the other digimon than to reassure him. Grimacing, she corrected Grimm, “He means that he’s sure you two can manage anything you find. Together. As a team.” Glancing at Kim, she added, “And us, too. I’m pretty sure nothing will come up anyway. It’ll be fine, so let’s go.”
She grabbed the jacket she had just taken off from the back of the chair and, slinging it over her shoulders, headed over to the small table and snatched one more sandwich for the road. Grimm, on the other hand, unlatched the window and pushed back the frame, allowing a cold gust of wind into the room. Looking at the small Lopmon expectantly, his wings fluttered as he fought to keep them still against the wind. His partner stood by the door, golden eyes gleaming expectantly. “Shall we go?”

THIS FRAGILE GAME, IT'S LIKE A TRAIN that is headed nowhere [atrb=valign, top, true][atrb=cellpadding, 5, true][atrb=valign, top][atrb=cellspacing, 0, true][atrb=width, 400, true][atrb=style, background: #cfcfdf; border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 20px; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 20px;][atrb=border, 0, true] | [atrb=style, text-align: justify; background: #191919; color: #787883; padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 0px; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 0px;]The weather seemed rather nice for a Winter day, considering that Kimara had no idea of how seasons worked around here. What if the cold never went away and it was cold all year?! Naaa, that would be scientifically impossible in any world. Well, not exactly, but still, she wanted to believe so. Lucas wasn't exactly a very fury Digimon, so she was a bit concerned. God, she really had to stop worrying so much. If she had the kind of relationship Tess had with Grimm, none of this would even pass through her head. But Kim didn't have to know Lucas for a long time to know that he wasn't very pleased with her suggestion. She was still kind of undecided about it herself, but it was the best thing she could of right now. Besides, they had to do something about this whole situation. Lucas couldn't expect her to sleep peacefully knowing that something wasn't quite right around here. In fact, how could he be so calm about it?! She had a lot to learn about the little Lopmon. Looking back to Tess, Kimara smiled when the girl accepted her suggestion so well. She could hear Lucas mumbling something but she couldn't care less. Now she had found an ally and there was no way Lucas was beating her in an argument. God, she really liked this girl! She seemed to be just as adventurous and independent as Kimara, and she liked both traits, either on herself or not. "Yeah sure, no problem with that.", Kim said as Tess mentioned Lucas hearing. For such a small Digimon, Lucas actually had a very nice hearing sense. Sighing, Lucas finally accepted defeat and agreed with Kim's idea. Walking toward the window, Kimara grabbed her coat tightly as she opened the window. A chill passed through her whole spine, from head to toes. She really hated cold weather. Sure, she liked Ice skating, but that's why they had build ice rinks. Still, it wasn't as cold as the snowy landscape made it seem like. The scenery reminded her of England and her original home, in the countryside. In London the view wasn't as amazing as watching a whole field covered in snow and that warm feeling of watching the snow fall while sitting beside the fireplace. It really was something else... A breeze brought her back to reality. It wasn't windy, so it would be easy for the two Digimons circle the hotel they were staying. "The conditions to flight are quite good, I think." Well, it seemed like it, but she wasn't an expert on it, so there's no way she'd be certain about it. Besides, the weather could change suddenly, like it had happened before, when she had first arrived to this new world or dimension or whatever it was. That day, it seemed the weather was rather nice, until it started raining out of nowhere. Yet again, that could happen anywhere. On the corner of her eyes, she could see Tess talking to her Digimon. Meanwhile, Kim's Lopmon had flew to her shoulder, watching the view as well. Turning around, the blue haired smiled and nodded at the other girl's words. Of course they would! They were two girls together and Kim strongly believed in 'girl's power'. True, maybe most girls weren't as strong physically as most guys, but she believed girls were better in everything else, so there was nothing to fear. Besides, Tess seemed practical and intelligent, which was always a very good thing. As Tess grabbed her jacket, Kimara started heading toward the door as well. Lucas jumped from her shoulders. He did have a good hearing but he wasn't the quickest flying. He assumed Grimm was used to it, so he had come up with an idea. Turning to Grimm, Lucas started. Huh you know, I'm not very fast flying, so maybe I should fly according the wind direction. Is that ok for you? Kim was still able to hear part of it, but she smiled. She knew Lucas was a smart little fellow and that she had nothing to worry about. "Yeah sure, let's go." As Kim finished her sentence, she heard the flapping of Lucas' big hears and they were off. Exiting the room, the hallways were as empty as before. Not a single whisper was heard. "YI came from the right side where there's only bedroom, let's go left now." Well, it was the most logical thing to do. She just hopped Tess was ok with it. words: don't really care music: inside of you, the maine tags: Tess, open~ notes: SORRY!! >.< I'm really sorry for the delay but studying has been keeping me really busy. [cs=3][atrb=cellspacing,0,btable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,btable] | [bg=black][atrb=width,70] | The young woman nodded in assent. In all honesty, she had been in such a rush on her way up to this room that she hadn’t noticed much of the surroundings. Vague memories of doors, windows, and the blood pounding in her ears were all she had. “Left sounds good,” she agreed, and with that, she turned and started to walk down the long hall.
It was poorly lit, with just a dim lamp mounted on the wall every few meters for light. This gave the hallway a dark cast, and there were shadows between the wall and the ceiling that the light never quite managed to get rid of. The ceiling itself was barely visible, giving the impression that it could be either ten meters high or a hundred, and it would be impossible to tell. Plastered in a floral burgundy wall paper, the dark color of the walls did nothing to add to the atmosphere. “Hmm,” Tess thought out loud, “not very cheery, is it? I wonder how this place manages to stay in business.”
At least it was warm. But the long, narrow hallway continued for quite some ways before a turn was visible, and that wasn’t very interesting at all. So Tess lengthened her stride, walking more quickly, something that, with her long legs, was easy to do. This place sort of reminded her of her grandparent’s house. Her father’s parents, not her mum’s. Where her mum’s parents lived in a lavish, perfectly modern house in the country side, all white and light, her father’s parents lived in a twisty, old house just like this. Although it looked small from the outside, inside the labyrinthine passages and multiple stories created a maze, and it seemed like Tess found something new every time she explored it.
Her pondering was cut short when she spotted a small alcove that had been invisible from farther down the hallway. Stopping short, she curiously took it in. It was a rather large bump backwards in the wall, and standing inside was a tall, large knight. Not a real one, of course, but a suit of armor, that, holding its great axe in a lifelike position, looked surprisingly alive. “Well, isn’t that interesting.”
How the hell they had managed to cart the thing up here was beyond Tess, but that didn’t make her less interested. The armor looked genuine, with dents in several places that didn’t look like they came from being dropped. Draping the wall behind the thing was a legitimate looking tapestry, faded, but intricate. The girl stepped forward to inspect the area, eyes lit up with fascination. “What do you think this is doing here, Kim?”
Absently, she wondered how the digimon were doing outside. Initially, she had doubted they would find anything, as she had just been out there with Grimm, but now she wasn’t so sure. Well, if there was anything to find, she was sure her partner would find it. Even with his cold attitude and lazy style, Grimm somehow managed to be just as much a magnet for trouble as she was, perhaps even more so. Because where Tessa went out of her way looking for excitement, Grimm somehow always managed to stumble onto it, one of the many things she loved about him. Pushing him out of her mind for the moment, however, she turned her attention back to her most recent discovery.
It was totally out of synch with the decoration of the rest of the place, something that only heightened her curiosity, and as expensive as things like this, at least ones in good condition, could be, Tess wondered how whoever owned the dilapidated building had managed to afford it. Unless the building itself was even older than it looked. Tess decided to pay more attention to the architecture and structure of the hotel as they explored more, but for now she was perfectly satisfied inspecting the thing in front of her. Its axe was chipped along the edge, as if it had actually seen use, but the wood of the haft was still polished and darkly gleaming.
Although she hovered around it, taking it in from every angle, Tess did not touch the armor, as much as she was tempted to. She saw no outside supports for it, other than the small pedestal it was standing on, and she didn’t want to disturb what she thought might be a delicate balance of metal pieces.
