Height 5"3' Weight 112 lbs Hair Style/Color Limp, uncut, sun-streaked (from work) brown. Eye Color A very light, expressive hazel. Chosen Item A silver ring with two interspersing lines encircling it as a design, scratched and grooved in random places. Actually, it's a copper ring washed with silver, but chipped only on the inside for some reason. Worn on a gold (in color, at least) chain around his neck, but is transferred to the middle finger of his right hand on some occasions, usually when he's stressed or upset. PSYCHOLOGICAL INFORMATION Personality Nervous, one could tell by the restless movement of his fingers and the tittering laugh of his that is less from actual laughter and more from the need to expel some of his nervous energy. Arthur isn't miserable by nature, just drawn so far back in himself that you have to wonder what it would take to shake him out. He's actually pretty happy, but he doesn't express it in joyful ways--he's not spontaneous with his emotions, they're usually just there. He's just so compliant and amiable to the extent that could really irritate more strong-minded people.

History

His parents struggled to find work for a long time after he was born, so he grew up accustomed to hardship. He went to school until the 6th grade, but dropped out to help his parents stay afloat. Pretending to be older than he was, he worked part-time jobs for most of the day. It used to bother him a bit, not having an education, but he thought of it no more when his parents died. He was fourteen and did not sit well with the idea of going into foster care. So what did he do? He ran away.

It was a hasty decision (one of the few he's ever made), and one made in grief--he just couldn't bear the thought of being passed around from one foster family to another. He'd heard the horror stories. There was no future for him, having fallen behind in academics and knowing only how to work hard and make ends meet.

He's currently residing in ("residing" here meaning "sleeping on the park benches of") a small mining town called Broken Hills. He'd've wanted to disappear into a bigger city, but his parents' savings could only get him so far. In any case, he likes the small town, and will regret having to leave it (which he inevitably will, when he's saved a bit--can't stay in the same place too long, after all).

He may come of as an eager beaver at first, but that's usually because of nerves. Remember, he's a runaway--not exactly a lifestyle that encourages friendships, much less ones with people close to his age. He's used to being around adults--the people who hire him, that is--who are either gruff or kindly, so he ought to be forgiven if he seems a little too stiff and polite. Arthur's an earnest boy, so it won't be that hard to get him to crack a smile, or laugh; the real challenge is to get some light dancing in his eyes, to get him to act his age and just relax, be himself, and have a good time. He's usually more concerned about whether or not the other person is having a good time rather than himself, so you can see how this can be a problem.
