Yu Jie didn't feel any one thing particularly strong when he awoke. His eyes were cast in the same steel expression he usually wore and his troubled mind felt at an odd tension that was somehow still unusually peaceful for the young man. His disinterested gaze caught Lucemon, tired eyed but still skipping along the street beside him, and a slight scowl worked onto his face. This morning, the first morning that he would go to the DEATHS location based in London, Yu Jie knew he should have been feeling something profound. Disgust. Anger. Frustration. Anything would have been preferable to this core of a man he knew his mother had make him to be.
"You have a funny look on your face," Lucemon looked up to his partner cautiously. The small digimon, though leading the way, looked unsure and slightly afraid as if he had made a mistake. Lucemon's slender hands came up to shield his eyes from the morning sun so he might look up at his partner a little better, though with the clarity the digimon only noticed the deep scowl that had formed on Yu's face. Whimpering softly, Lucemon's hands dropped to his sides, his bracelets jingling slightly at the movement. "I'm sorry. I just worry about you, that's all."
The anger that would have usually built from Lucemon's foolishness didn't come forth as Yu expected. The digimon had stopped and wasted his time by bringing up something as stupid as the expression on his face and yet he wasn't filled with fist-clenching frustration. Today was already promising to be interesting, but this new little development was certainly worth noting. "It's fine. Let's continue walking," Yu's voice was brisk, but not cruel. Lucemon stared at him for a moment, confused, but did as his partner insisted and began his trudge towards the university once more. Yu waited only a moment to pull out a small notebook before he too began walking.
The small pocket notebook held all things that Yu found interesting, logged by day and time and placed in the spine was a very small pencil. Yu didn't bother to stop walking as he logged how unusually he was acting and within a minute the entry was written out properly and the notebook cast back into Yu's pocket. Lucemon had a comfortable lead and Yu Jie took the opportunity to observe the digimon from behind. His collection of wings looked so regal and beautiful, but Yu had never seen him use them to fly before. The young man's eyes narrowed as he delved deeper into the thought. Perhaps Lucemon just couldn't fly?
"We made it," Lucemon had stopped before a great set of stairs into the university. It was a grand place and most likely the best cover that such an organization could ever think to use. "Do you think that we will find the men you need to speak to easily?" Lucemon stared at Yu for a moment before directing his bright eyes back towards the intimidating building before him.
"We're not exactly looking for someone in particular. I just thought if I came here I could begin to understand my situation better. We're in an interesting pact now, Lucemon, and I'd prefer to know who it is I've chosen to work with beyond what they chose to show me in our previous meetings. I assume you don't have any objections?" Yu's cold brown eyes met Lucemon's once more and they exchanged silent words. Lucemon could never go against Yu, even if he felt his partner was doing the worst thing in the world and Yu knew it. "Good. Then let us find out what I came here to." The two didn't waste any more time before walking into the building.

“Welcome to London Metropolitan University,” A tall woman offers, standing behind the front desk with the row of receptionists, offering her right hand in greeting, a clipboard clutched in her left, pages flipped up as she smiles, “I'm Dr. Noble, I'll be your academic advisor for the next few years.” She circles around to the front of the desk, her lab coat billowing behind her, tapping Yu Jie on the shoulder with her free hand, guiding him towards one of the side hallways, presumably towards her office, walking swiftly as her blue trainers squeak on the waxed floor, “You'll have to excuse the improper greeting, you know London and it's extremely comprehensive system of closed circuit cameras. You never know who's watching or listening in on your conversations sometimes, so it pays to be paranoid.”
“So, you're Enlay's son, correct? He was a good man, very focused in the use of positive reinforcement towards achieving higher biofield synchronicity rates.” she sighs for a moment, tilting her head in thought, “He'll be missed. But we're not here about him, we're here about you.”
“You will most likely be working under myself or a designated proxy with the College of Life Sciences. The Colleges of Applied Social Sciences, Law, and Business are closely intertwined with our unique class of field research. And while the Board of Deans does tend to agree with our general directives and agendas should such matters come to their attention, you should take care not to allow our more humanitarian goals to be brought to the attention to any faculty member or students of the Colleges of Arts, Humanities, or Education.” She stops at the last door in the hallway, opening the door into a large windowless office, loud strains of classical music playing in the room, reverberating off the walls.
The doctor glares at the gray digimon reclining in one of the leather chairs, his feet sliding off of the desk, pressing the remote in his hand as the music is turned down to a more reasonable level, “I've been on a Federigo Fiorillo kick for the past few weeks myself. Don't mind me.” the smaller digimon murmurs, laying his head on the arm of his chair while Dr. Noble sits down in the chair beside him, gesturing for Yu Jie and his partner to take a seat in the plush sofa opposite her desk.
“There are also a number of additional smaller organizations that you may be doing odd jobs for, Weyland Private Security is one that we have worked with with some regularity in this area. You'll be staying in the dorms I assume?” The gazimon coughs loudly into his paw, “He has a residence, Merry” “Yes, clearly. I remember that.” The doctor picks up the clipboard, flipping back two pages, “...Now.” She lets out a frustrated grunt before continuing, “Regardless, we've already set you and your companion on the school meal plan, as partners tend to eat quite a bit when given the option. We do also expect you to take a number of classes, of your own choosing of course, though feel free to take the next week or so to familiarize yourself with the area before you worry about that. If you have any immediate issues, feel free to call my cell at a moment's notice, and we will work out the best way to rectify the situation at that time. Am I forgetting anything Gazi?” her digimon responding with a non-committal grunt.

She couldn’t believe it. Her teacher in her last class had taken his time with his lecture. A lecture that she had already read up and understood clearly. If it hadn’t been for the points for attendance, she would have left earlier. She would have met her charge at the door instead of searching for him as she did now.
Her frown only grew as she searched. This wasn’t good at all. The one time she was given a big job, something better than cleaning the vials or gathering materials, she had to blow it. She gritted her teeth and pressed on. Chakkumon followed her quietly, unsure of just what to say to diffuse his partner’s irritation. He understood why she was irritated. In fact, it did bother him a bit as well. It was almost as if the man had purposely delayed them. He stopped, pondered upon that for a bit. Just why would he want to do that? ”Eisbär?” He heard his partner call, and he turned to face her. She watched him with a raised ‘brow. There was a touch of annoyance in her tone. ”Coming!” He replied before running up after her.
Finally they spotted him. Just before Dr. Miriam Noble entered her office with the dark haired boy, the blonde intern watched with interest as snowy teddy bear beside her tugged on her white lab coat lightly. ”Isn’t that the boy?” He asked curiously, looking up at his partner. She pulled out her clipboard and flipped through it. The boy had matched every little in it. She nodded quietly. He smiled up at her a bit wearily and gave her a supportive push towards the office. She looked back at him with an annoyed roll of the eyes before turning her attention back to the office the four had entered.
Still holding the clipboard close, she approached the office but stopped short of entering it to knock on the opened door. ”Please excuse me, but I was told that I meant to show Yu Jie around?” Her voice was cool and professional, but the snowy bear clinging onto her leg was slowly destroying her image. He even had one of his hands in his mouth as if sucking honey off his fingers, not that he was. The intern would have noticed it earlier if it was. The reason why he was sucking on his fingers though was because of the woman they were facing. He was nervous around her. She was their boss. Sort of. She was Jaeger’s boss, which indirectly meant that she was his boss.

Up until this point he was pasted over in a rather emotionless state, which was probably a blessing in disguise, but this woman cured him of that rather swiftly. She introduced herself, but the young man could have cared less about her 'title', for once he learned her first name he'd only call her that as a threat. That threat will mean that Yu Jie is not going to just take orders in this association, and he would be damned if he so much as referred to the woman as Doctor, let alone respectfully paired with her last name. Scowl on his face, Yu Jie removed himself from the woman's reach when she tried to tap him on the shoulder. Yu Jie didn't wish to be touched. For the moment though, he chose to walk with her rather than causing problems. There would be plenty of time to give everyone hell later, but now he chose to listen.
She babbled. Brow furrowed in irritation, Yu Jie almost cursed in anger when she had the nerve to bring up his father AND pronounce the man's name from. "It's Enlai," Yu Jie interrupted for a moment, voice laced with his dangerous and suddenly flourishing anger. When the woman began to rant of how he may work under her, Yu Jie almost turned and walked out, but something kept him there. Lucemon had followed close behind and was beginning to show looks of fear. The young angelic creature could feel the anger building in his partner and wanted nothing more than for the woman causing it to bring her tongue to a halt, but she didn't seem ready to do that for quite some time. When they came to a halt at the office in which the woman worked, Yu Jie was about ready to tell the woman off.
She remained quiet only long enough for the digimon to turn down it's music, then insisted that he and Lucemon take a seat. Yu Jie gave his partner a look, insisting that the creature sit, but he refused and only took a few steps into the office in reply. Getting comfortable didn't sound like something he wished to do because the woman would not stop talking and he'd rather not sit. Were Yu Jie to sit he felt as if that would invite the woman to speak even more and that was the last thing he wanted. Finally though, the woman came to a stop after rearranging his life with her words and thoughts. "I'll have you know-" Yu Jie stopped when he heard the arrival of someone else. 'What now!?' He thought with an irritated turn towards the door.
The young woman who had entered the conversation seemed much easier to handle that the woman who had just commanded Yu Jie's ear off, and for that he automatically had a better view on her than most. Lucemon's wings twitched with anticipation as he leaned forward in his chair, swung his legs a little, and glanced to the strawberry blond who appeared at the doorway. Sending his partner a glance, Lucemon silently communicated that he approved of the woman and sent a smile towards her digimon, who he thought he could have a good bond with by his simple appearance. Lucemon liked that the digimon didn't have to act as rigid as his partner.
"I'd like to go with her now, since you've clearly explained I have no decisions to make and no choices in my life. I'd like you to remember, miss, that it is I who lend my services to you and I have the right to remove them whenever I wish," The malice in his voice had reached new heights and his eyes shone with cold frustration. "If you wish to speak with me more you're free to follow us, but I will not pay any mind to any more of your infernal orders."
Yu Jie always was good at making a lovely first impression.
