History
Digimon were a mystery, but a passion of Tai Yagami's life as he was growing up. The illusive creatures were a fictitious creation that lived only in the games his father brought home from work; games that his father had a very big part in creating. In fact, just before Tai's birth, his father had climbed the ranks all the way up to head programmer within DICE, supervising every digimon game they produced. While his father soon learned the truth behind the games, he still kept it secret from his impressionable young son once he was old enough to enjoy the games. Tai's passion for all things digital initially spurred from the influence of his father's career and began at the age of five when he received his first digital monsters game.
Other than his passion for the digital, Tai experienced his first overwhelming connection with the voice when he was only seven. Certainly all his life he felt somewhat contradicting tugs in other directions that overlapped his opinion, but it wasn't until the age of seven that he heard those tugging sensations voiced. It was while Tai was playing his digital monsters games after school that he distinctly remembered hearing, in a different voice than his own, "I bet they're unhappy." At first it left Tai unsettled, but he was only a child so he replied aloud, "They who?" Though the child had stopped everything he was doing to wait for a reply, he did not receive one. When Tai asked his mother what happened she smiled at him, gave him a pat on the head, and told him that a child's imagination was the strongest and most mysterious thing in all the world and it would probably happen to him many more times, but it was nothing to fear.
A year later, at the age of eight, Tai had developed a tight connection with his 'imagination' and often could entertain himself for hours without so much as a coloring book. His father was usually too busy with work to notice that his son was exhibiting peculiar behavior and his mom never thought it odd when she saw him giggling in a room alone. After all, it was just the work of 'imagination'. Another year passed and Tai continued his conversations with that other voice in his head, sometimes doing foolish pranks under it's influence. When playing his games he often talked to 'himself' about the digital monsters, suddenly wondering if they were happy or properly taken care of at the prompting of the voice in his head. Tai only tried to talk to his mother about the issues of his 'imagination' and she constantly dismissed it, warning him not to tell anyone of it or they'd tease him for having an imaginary friend. Tai reluctantly took his mother's advice.
At school Tai tried to join a few clubs so he wouldn't be left with his thoughts for too long and that worked for the most part. At the age thirteen he began to experience troubles though that shook up his entire family. The plague, which everyone was beginning to fear, seemed to set in on the young man. A splitting headache sent Tai home early from school and his mother tried to get him to rest the pain away, but it wouldn't relent. The next day he believed himself good enough to go back to school, but after getting out of bed he suffered an abrupt fainting spell. The signs of the plague set in rapidly and without mercy, leaving Tai's father the only option of going to his work to beg for the solution. Tai's father's bosses agreed to give his son a set of their special headsets only if the boy would work within the gaming sect, which he had a knack for.
The headset corrected the plague as if it had never happened within Tai and soon he began work with his father, learning the basics of creating video games. Tai was never informed of the true origin of digimon or the end result of the plague, but he seems to struggle with the concepts of what he's doing after school in working with his father. The young man still has problems with his 'imagination' which is becoming more of a concerning figure in his life.
