History
Ashling was born into a Celtic family and was gifted a pleasant and easy childhood. Her father was an important man and could buy whatever she wished so she was spoiled in terms of worldly possessions, though she never allowed that to affect how she acted. Ashling's mother struggled with depression so was often absent from her child's life, claiming that she needed to venture out if she was ever to settle what was troubled within. While it may have bothered different children, Ashling tended to manage just fine with her digimon partner. The two would talk for hours, learning much from each other, and often dreamed about going to far away places. When Ashling was old enough to go to school she liked to read books on different places in her free time, always coming back to Puffmon with new imaginary quests they promised they'd go on together someday.
Elementary school passed swiftly and Ashling rose in the ranks of her peers. She proved to everyone around her how intelligent she was in simple conversation, for she sounded years ahead of her peers. Puffmon naturally digivolved to Kyaromon by the time she graduated 5th grade and the two fell into much deeper conversations. By this time Ashling's father found business elsewhere and often did much traveling, so Ashling was cared for by a series of maids. She didn't ever connect with any of them though and continued to believe was Kyaromon was the only one she could ever rely on. Ashling's mother had taken ill so was often at home, but the child still hardly ever encountered her mother considering she holed up in her bedroom.
Middle school was when Ashling finally began to flourish. The school she entered was relatively small, so Ashling felt rather comfortable being more open and forthcoming with her personality. The young child quickly made friends with a small group of girls and liked being especially girly with them. Talking about boys was the only thing that Ashling didn't seem to understand or want to do. For a time the young girl thought she just wasn't interested in romance, but that was quickly remedied when she took interest in a particular young girl in her school. Her name was Devona and she was the roughest girl that Ashling had ever met before. It was difficult for the young woman to approach her, but Ashling managed to strike up conversation and the two became fast friends.
Throughout middle school the two became inseparable and knew things of each other that they would never trust with anyone else. Things grew awkward occasionally as Ashling realized she was beginning to hold overwhelming romantic feelings for her best friend, but she chose against saying anything out of fear that they would drift apart. Soon middle school came to an end and the two friends got together to discuss where they'd be going to high school. They were alarmed to discover that each was being forced to go to a different school and Ashling vowed to confront her father about his choice as soon as she got home. Devona promised something similar. To their despair, Ashling's father was insistent about where she go for high school, saying that her education before college was the most important thing that she could devote herself to. Ashling desperately brought up her feelings about leaving her friend to which her father only replied "there will be other friends, Ash".
Ashling returned to school with a heavy heart, hoping that Devona would have better news than she. Unfortunately it was just that: a hope. Devona said that her family couldn't find a way to get her into the school Ashling was going to because it was too exclusive. The two shared a day of silent sorrow. Middle school graduation day came and during the ceremony Ashling and Devona were despondent. After the day was over the left each other with the promise they would stay in touch no matter what it took. That too was just a futile hope though. During the Summer they managed to stay in contact through phone calls and the occasional cross-city visits, but once school started they stopped hearing from each other. Ashling tried to call, but only to learn that the only phone number she knew for her friend was disconnected.
Ashling fell into a depression for two years solidly. Those first two years of high school didn't do much for her intellect either. While she used to once thirst for information, she found she didn't much care for anything without her friend. Kyaromon in the meantime managed to digivolve into Kudamon and tried his best to support his partner. His part in her life had always been prevalent, but with the absence of Devona he became her pillar of strength. Kudamon even began to suggest that Ashling look into traveling like she used to when she was younger. The concept hadn't struck Ashling until Kudamon had suggested it, but it seemed a nice alternative to her depression, so the two fell back into childhood habits.
During her last two years of high school, Ashling realized that she wanted to take on a career that would allow her to travel, which Kudamon enjoyed too. The two studied fervently together until they found a good journalism program running through a local university. Ashling set herself up to enter in that program before she graduated and easily made it into the university on scholarships once she was finished. High school behind her, Ashling was beginning to feel more free in her life and she began to go through the same sort of flourishing happiness she achieved on first arriving in middle school. Things only got better.
A week into her time at the university, Ashling bumped into a young woman on her way to the bus. Alarmed, Ashling quickly began apologizing and picking up all the things she had made the young woman drop only to realize she knew the woman rather well. Four years had passed, but Ashling still recognized the Devona that she used to know. The two sat together, rush to the bus forgotten, and began speaking of old times. Their conversation dragged into the night, leading them to a small cafe where they chatted the night away. Embarrassed, Ashling decided to reveal to Devona the feelings she never thought she could before only to learn that her friend felt the same way. They began dating seriously right after their talk.
Life seemed to be at peace once more. Ashling was a confident young eighteen year old finally hitting her stride with the freedoms that being in college granted her. That was until her father learned about her relationship. It didn't take long for the stubborn old man to disown his daughter entirely and cast her out of the home she'd known her whole life. She and Kudamon were essentially homeless, but Devona asked her to move in. Devona lived in a cozy little apartment at the time and they began to create a life together. Two years passed and they began to act like a married couple, but happily so. Ashling decided to sit Devona down on her twenty-first birthday however to ask her for something she wanted as a 'birthday gift'. Unconventional as it was, Ashling begged Devona to let her have a baby so they could be a real family, to which Devona could only agree (after much debate however).
Ashling decided to take time away from college so they could start their family. Money was never a concern though because Ashling had been saving everything her father had given her before the disowning and Devona held down a rather good job. Pregnancy was a little hard of Ashling, but she was more than excited for the baby. On request she decided to keep with her family tradition of giving her boy a Celtic name. Kael Zyphan Caibre was a wonderful addition to their household and they all lived happily. Once Kael grew a little older, Ashling decided to return to college to try and become the journalist she always wanted to be. Devona worried about what it would be like if she had to travel, but the two promised to make it work because it was what Ashling really wanted. By the time that Kael was age eight, Ashling finally graduated from college with a degree in journalism.
Kudamon loved to play with Kael and his partner, obviously more than contented with the family and life that Ashling worked so hard to have. Kael began to go through a change when he hit the age of ten though. After discovering a bit of the world Ashling was faced with the awkward task of explaining why to her son that had two mothers instead of a mom and a dad and tried to convince him to continue with his home schooling. Her child was adamant however, which Devona said he got from his mother, and she reluctantly enrolled him into a public school. It didn't take long for trouble to start at his school though and Ashling was horrified when her child came home with bruises and cuts from fights. Ashling tried to force Kael out of the public school system, which he resisted, and eventually she had to yield to Devona's solution: enrolling Kael in self-defense classes. Things began to calm a bit, though the problems never really entirely resolved. As much as Ashling wanted to devote her time to solving all of Kael's school problems she soon received a job at her local newspaper and started publishing a weekly article which took up a fair amount of her time.
Years passed and Ashling watched with growing concern as her son grew upset with life. His schooling was the only thing he seemed to enjoy, always thirsting for more information like his mother used to, and he often complained to Ashling about everything that happened. She always listened attentively and tried to sooth his troubles in any way she could. Soon she didn't have as much time to devote to him though, because by the time her son turned seventeen she was offered a job as a reporter for a highly acclaimed news service. Ashling accepted happily (Kudamon secretly happy all their childhood dreams were coming true) and began to go on trips for her new job. The time away from her family was hard, but she wrote letters all the time and found ways to bask in their company whenever she was home.
On a story in the middle east however, things went terribly terribly wrong. Ashling met up with a group of seven other reporters and they began to share information (a taboo to most). The work was hard and most of the others had admitted that they knew little to nothing about all the conflicts that they had gone to report on. The country was torn by ungodly wars that were only enraged further by digital warfare, which was what everyone was so interested in. That day in the plaza whilst all the reporters were gather together was the day that they were all captured and carted off to a camp though. The men came in with guns, a group that Ashling never had the mind to count, and forced her and the others into a dark van with no windows. The vehicle sounded horrible as it skipped down the rocky roads, and even worse when Ashling guessed it headed into a forest.
The camp was of poor quality and its new inhabitants were forced to live in a tiny shack that leaked when he rained. They weren't allowed to write letters back home and the only thing that their captors would indulge them in was time with a radio. That radio became Ashling's saving grace, as she listened to stories about what was happening every day and dreamed about how her family was. Days passed like minutes. Months passed like days. Years passed like months. Ashling lost herself in the routine of her imprisonment and tried desperately to make it more enjoyable by speaking with Kudamon. Kudamon grew weak as she though and they both found that conversing became more trouble than it was worth. The toll that the camp took on Ashling was imense, but was what easily hidden for her became a glaring deficiency in her partner. He reverted from Kudamon to Kyaromon after the first year, then from Kyaromon to Puffmon in less than that. They feared they'd never again live a free life.
And then, as quickly as they had been captured, the seven reporters were saved in an American effort. Four of the seven reporters had been from the Unites States and that had been what really saved them all. Ashling set an unsteady foot back on her home country as they delivered her home and collapsed. She wept there on the ground, unbelievably grateful to be home. The emotional indulgence didn't last long though because Ashling had to return to her family. She had eight years in which she didn't see her son, now a man of twenty-five, or her life-long love.

Quick Scan
Ashling is a woman who has lived more than a full life and somehow still desires more. She was raised peacefully, found a love, began an adventure, had a child, and was imprisoned and suffered more pain than anyone ever should. The positive force in her life somehow saved her from the destitute reality she endured for eight long years and though it scarred her she generally tries to keep her pains hidden from those around her.
