Adalyn’s earrings are thick, green hoops and they’re pretty bold/gaudy looking. Adalyn wears a single, matching green bracelet and it makes some people wonder if she should be wearing another. From time to time Adalyn also paints her nails pink and ruins the ungirly impression she ordinarily makes. The second thing people’s eyes might lock onto is the caseless guitar Adalyn sometimes carries around. If they see Adalyn later, her guitar seems to have vanished and most of the time she isn’t close to her house, where she could drop it off. Occasionally people catch Adalyn with a bizarre expression on her face. The expression is bizarre because she doesn’t show much emotion when she speaks. Adalyn’s bizarre expression is that of shining victory and she means to keep it a secret, but… When she has something to be happy about, she’s happy. Adalyn tries to play her cheerfulness off as a trick of the light. Much more often than she’s caught smiling, during a conversation Adalyn closes one of her eyes and keeps it closed. History
Adalyn hails from a loving French family in Versailles, the Gilettes. Adalyn’s grandmother has lived with her and her parents since she was a baby, so Adalyn is never lonely even though she’s an only child. Growing up, she spent more time with her family than her peers. The atmosphere of her house was always warm and welcoming. Her parents are musicians, so they practiced their songs often. Adalyn’s parents taught her how to read piano music at an early age, six. When she turned eight, Adalyn picked up guitar.

When her parents were busy, Adalyn performed for her grandmother. She showed her schoolwork she got good grades on, played piano or guitar music, and she told her about her day. Because Adalyn rarely spent time with her classmates, she formed her own opinions, mostly. Her parents and grandmother influenced her positively. Adalyn could always count on her family to guide her in the right direction. She aspired to make her family proud of her and tried her best to be a “mature kid.”

One day, when Adalyn was in collège, (the French equivalent of junior high school) she saw someone being bullied. She couldn’t stand to see someone looking so helpless, and so she stood up for them. Adalyn kept calm and managed to intimidate the bully, if she hadn’t had her wits about her, she would have gotten into a fight. When she got home, she told her family what happened. Her family suggested she take some kind of self-defense class and Adalyn chose capoeira, which involved a lot of sparring and building agility.

In lycées, (high school) Adalyn was pressured to be more social. People she defended in middle school invited her out. She was mostly impassive when she was supposed to be socializing, but some people thought that made her look cooler. At some point she adopted the nickname “Maddie.” It was only in high school that her family expressed their concern, and relief, that Adalyn was “being more social.” Adalyn was shocked and she felt a bit betrayed because they didn’t tell her earlier. They could have waited to tell her to socialize more often for a dozen reasons.

At the age of seventeen, Adalyn is in her last year of lycées and she ponders what to do after baccalauréat. (test to get into college) The choice between continuing to study or becoming a professional is tough for her because she doesn’t particularly enjoy other students’ company. She isn’t sure if she wants to become a musician or not, either. Since that dreadful first year of lycées she has “hung out with people” she doesn’t like in an effort to maintain a good relationship with her family. Adalyn has no idea that her life’s unclear direction is about to be the least of her troubles.

Quick Scan
Adalyn is a strange girl who cannot be counted on to be the same from day to day. Her opinion changes a lot, and so do her actions. She looks out for herself and maybe her partner, Gazimon, too, but everyone else seems to be pretty expendable. When Adalyn’s around people, she usually isn’t unpleasant, though. She’s just not the warmest person, most of the time. Adalyn enjoys sticking her nose into other people’s business. She likes to give advice, but that’s probably because it makes her look good and she confirms for herself that she’s competent. Besides, caring for people is what she's used to, her home life is good, but she experienced a shock recently. Adalyn’s other redeeming qualities are her quest for self-knowledge and her openness to new experiences and people and well, her resilience.

Notes
With some luck, Adalyn will meet someone, other than Gazimon, who will teach her the importance of continuity and empathy and show her that being hard for other people to count on in most situations is definitely not a good thing.

Ah, also, if you could use the avatar I'm using to represent Adalyn on the Einherjar list instead of the three with the strawberry at the top of this profile, that'd be great. I only really used those three 'cause they were enigmatic and added variety, anyway.
