History
Kael was born to a homosexual couple of women in England. His mother Ashling, the one who carried him for nine months, was from a traditional family with proud Celtic blood all throughout their lineage. Even though she was disowned by her family for 'choosing' to be homosexual, Ashling still carried on the family tradition of giving the men of their blood Celtic names, bestowing her baby with the name Kael (meaning mighty warrior). Kael's father-figure was Devona and he often referred to her as his 'ba' while Ashling was just 'ma'.

As a young child, Kael was very sheltered in every aspect of the word. The only friend he was allowed was his digimon, cutemon, and his mothers kept him home for tutoring. Up until the age of ten, Kael wasn't aware that the world was so vast or that 'normal' families had a male and female as parents, but one day whilst playing in the garden with cutemon something happened to change all of that. The little boy had thrown his ball near the fence and on his short quest to pick it up he got his first peek beyond the large hedges to the neighboring family.

With cutemon at his heels, Kael watched a father call to his children. It was peculiar for the boy to see a man in a parental spot, but when he went back in with his digimon and asked about it he was sat down for 'storytime' in which his mothers explained how they were a different kind of family. After their talk, Kael demanded that he and cutemon be allowed to go to a normal school and make friends with other kids. Even though his parents were reluctant, they knew they couldn't keep sheltering Kael from everything and they agreed.

School was a blessing for Kael, for he found there was a wider range for him to study and when he wanted something new to read he could ask his teachers and they would provide him with it, but the blessing that Kael saw school to be transformed into something more dark as time wore on. The other children began to tease Kael, a young boy, for having a pink-girly looking digimon with feminine tendencies. The young boy didn't understand why others would make fun of his digimon, so after standing up for himself one day he got into a fight with five of the fifth grade boys. It wasn't a long fight and by the time it was over Kael was bleeding on the playground.

Cutemon rushed to the side of his partner and started shouting for help. In the little digimon's shouts for help he learned that he had different powers in comparison to other digimon- mainly healing abilities. Just standing near Kael offered healing benefits, but when cutemon put his mind to it he recovered enough to gain his wits back. When the child came to again he looked to cutemon and asked what happened, though the only answer he had for him was that he had some form of healing ability, even if it wasn't strong enough to fix his black eye.

When he went home that day his mothers were more than alarmed to learn that Kael had gotten into his first fight. Their fears of letting their sheltered child out into the world proved to be well-founded, but when they tried to tell him he wouldn't be allowed to go to school anymore he threw a fit. The boy proclaimed that he wasn't afraid of any bullies and he enjoyed school too much to give it up for them. Kael's determination allowed him to continue his schooling, but the teasing only got worse from then on. Teacher's pet was what most kids called the young boy, though once the other children learned he had two mothers he was teased for that as well.

Due to the frequency that Kael was getting into fights at school, cutemon learned how to heal better and his ba enrolled him in self-defense classes. Devona wasn't in support of her son going to school and grew more vocal about the issue, but his determination prevented her from removing him from the schooling system, leaving her the distasteful remedy of teaching him how to fight for himself. Cutemon would always attend the classes and watch from afar, learning slowly, but never intending to use a bit of what he saw. Kael would sometimes end up sore or with small cuts after his classes, so he'd always go home with cutemon and he'd practice healing even more.

By the age of seventeen, Kael had grown bitter at his life. The young man continued to immerse himself in schooling more than anything else, though his relationship with cutemon continued to develop like they were brothers and not just partners. Ashling had taken up a job as a reporter and was away from home, so Kael's bond with his ba became much more strenuous. Kael tried to vent his angers to Devona like he did with Ashling, but she grew weary of dealing with all of his problems as well as her own, so they began to drift apart.

Kael wrote Ashling letters on a daily basis, knowing that a vast number of them never actually found her. The young man made it a habit to sit down every afternoon with cutemon to see if his mother had made it onto news with her reports, though one night they were appalled to watch a story about how one particularly war-torn area in the middle-east had broken out into constant fighting and uncounted people had fallen to digimon warfare. The next weeks passed and Kael didn't receive a single word from his mother. The young man was worrying that the worst had happened, but a few months passed after that and still he had received no word.

Then a letter arrived. It was not from Kael's mother, but rather an official government statement saying that Ashling Caibre had been taken as a prisoner of war along with seven other reporters in the area. Reporting was a crime punishable by imprisonment and it appeared as if parliament could do nothing about it. Protests arose for the release of the imprisoned reporters and there was a story on the news every day for about three months, then the story began to die out and most people had forgotten about the injustice. But Kael never forgot. His burning hate of his world and his life only grew with each day that his mother was away from him.

By the time Kael had officially turned eighteen he found a way that he could move out. Kael's relationship with Devona had only gotten worse with the imprisonment of Ashling, so he took cutemon and got an apartment of his own, though it was meager livings considering he could hardly afford the place and food he needed on his job's salary. Cutemon was a silent pillar of strength for Kael in these times, though he began to treat his partner in exceedingly harsh ways, feeling slightly like all digimon were to blame for all of the warfare in the middle-east, therefor the imprisonment of his mother.

A year passed of rocky living and soon Kael was discovered by DEATHS for his bright, sharp mind and studious behavior. The paycheck alone was enough to incite Kael into DEATHS ranks, but as he gained favor in their eyes he was let in on truths that would have made most people cringe, though they gave Kael all the more drive to work for the shady organization. It didn't take Kael long to go from an apprentice scientist to a second in command in the Vanir research department. Cutemon, uneasy about Kael's new position and his shifting mental state, went to work with him every day and tried to encourage him into making better choices, but he would always end up shouting at his partner to shut up. During one day of work, Kael got angry enough at cutemon to slap him, causing the little digimon to collapse into something sharp and cut his face.

Crying silently, cutemon recoiled from his partner and sat in a corner of the lab for the rest of the afternoon. For a while he let her face bleed, feeling like he deserved it for angering his partner, but eventually it bothered him enough for him to heal it. Kael's superior watched as the young man's partner healed a cut, entirely enthralled because he had done something mysterious and thus far unseen in the eyes of DEATHS. Kael was called into a meeting later that day with a board of higher-ups in DEATHS and they made him a proposition.

If Kael would be willing to study his digimon partner for her healing abilities he would be given the lead on his very own project. Project ELLA, or EverLasting Life Allocation. Kael, twisted by darker emotions and the vengeful feelings he still held for digimon, agreed without question and a new department was created. It took a year for a new lab to be created, equipped with high security so as not to let project ELLA be known, and by the time Kael turned Twenty-five he finally began to fall into the routine of his work.

**Shea was a nickname given to Kael's digimon by his mother Ashling. Ashling chose the name Shea because her mother once told her when she was young that digimon came from a land of magic, like in fairy tales, and Shea is Celtic for 'Fairy Place'.
